HOW WE COULD MORTIFY/SUBDUE OUR MEMBERS/WORKS OF THE FLESH Many believers think that staying away from the works of the flesh is what makes them to please God. No. God has been pleased with us in Christ .But staying away from the works of the flesh is one of the ways to exercise the abilities of the recreated human spirit. The ability to mortify the flesh emanates from the recreated human spirit invigorated by the Holy Spirit to bear his fruit. Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh ( be carnal), ye shall die (be dead, death, be slain) : BUT IF YE THROUGH THE SPIRIT (OUR HUMAN SPIRIT INVIGORATED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT) DO MORTIFY ( SUBDUE) THE DEEDS(WORKS) OF THE BODY (FLESH), YE SHALL LIVE (QUICK,LIVELY) .Col 3:5 ¶ MORTIFY THEREFORE YOUR MEMBERS which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry Romans 6:13 NEITHER YIELD ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: B
